Magnetic particle testing is a non-destructive testing method used to detect cracks and defects in or near the surface of ferromagnetic materials. It is used to identify material- or process-related irregularities at an early stage and to ensure the quality and operational safety of components.
For the inspection, the component is magnetized. If there are cracks or defects in the material, magnetic stray fields are generated at these locations. Magnetic particles applied to the surface accumulate at these stray fields, making the defects visible.
Magnetic particle testing is suitable for both individual parts and mass-produced parts. The existing testing system can inspect components up to900 mm in length. The method is fast, effective, and enables reliable quality control directly within the manufacturing process.
