Stamping and Forming Technology
HTR uses the proven vacuum hardening process to enhance tool components that are essential for stamping and bending. In stamping, flat parts are produced from a wide variety of materials using a stamping press, while in forming, raw parts made of metal or thermoplastics are specifically shaped into a different form.
The use of state-of-the-art technology, which generates an exceptionally high pressure of 10 bar, opens up new heat treatment possibilities for HTR.
Vacuum Hardening for Stamping and Forming Technology
Vacuum hardening is particularly well-suited for precision components with complex contours or large changes in cross-section. Thanks to the ability to precisely control the process, the results are also highly reproducible.
In the first step, thermocouples are attached to the cleaned and properly loaded components to actively control the process. Once the optimal heating temperature is reached, the ambient air is evacuated. The vacuum ensures that the workpiece does not react with gases in the furnace and retains its bare surface. As soon as the thermocouples signal that quenching should begin, nitrogen flows into the system according to a precisely defined procedure and cools the components under positive pressure.
